Albert Cohen

I love being a spark that ignites a fire. I still get that spark when I find inspiration. You never know how far that fire can spread.

Tell us why you became a teacher

When I was a professional recording engineer, I really enjoyed working with younger kids and seeing their eyes light up when they try something they've not done before. When I was told there was career and Technical Education Position for a music production teacher, I jumped at the opportunity. I remember how inspiring it was to learn a new concept go and practice for hours. I want to help the next budding producers and musicians by being providing that direction and inspiration.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Last year, I started an after school workplace challenge internship using the school's recording studio as a model to run a business. I wrote the entire eight week course from scratch inspired from my own experience of running a recording studio in brooklyn for over twenty years. Students learn how to start a business, work for themselves, marketing their service, generating leads, running a budget and of course recording a bunch of different Projects.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would pay back my school loans and spend some on my kids.
