Learn MoreI became a teacher because I believe education has the power to transform lives and communities. Growing up around educators showed me the impact teachers have beyond the classroom. As a Black male mathematics teacher, I aim to provide representation, build students’ confidence in math, and support those who struggle so they can see their potential and achieve success.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable experiences was during an IEP meeting when a parent shared that my class helped their child enjoy math again. They explained that their student looked forward to coming to school and always went home with stories about what they learned. Hearing that reminded me that teaching is not only about content, but about restoring students’ confidence and excitement for learning.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I received a $25,000 reward, I would begin a scholarship endowment to support some of my former students who are currently in ninth grade as they prepare for the next stage of their academic journey. Whether they choose to attend a four-year university, a two-year college, or a trade school, I want to help remove financial barriers and support them in pursuing the path that best fits their goals and future.
