I became a teacher to create a positive learning experience for my students. I want them to see that learning can be enjoyable, and perseverance is just as important as knowledge. Most importantly, I want to provide a sense of safety and support for students who need a steady, encouraging adult presence in their lives. I became a teacher to show students that they are more capable than they may believe.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experiences are the hands-on science experiments I do with students—lava lamps, crystals, rock candy, solar ovens, elephant toothpaste, and more. Seeing their excitement and curiosity as they create, experiment, and discover is unforgettable. Their joy and engagement creates lasting memories that stay with them—and me—forever.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Although this funding wouldn’t go toward one big project, it would truly make a difference in my everyday life. Most of it would help cover basic living expenses like rent, groceries, gas, and bills, giving me stability and breathing room. With that support, I’d also be able to refresh classroom and lab supplies and celebrate my students’ hard work at the end of the year.
