Adrian Cervini

Teaching is my way of giving back to society. I was very fortunate to grow up with so many of my teachers as role models.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I had very supportive music/band teachers in my life who took the time to get to know me as a person and not just another student. They saw something in me and they believed in me.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I have so many. I enjoy when the "light bulb" goes off and students finally "get it". I love their reactions when they see that their hardworking classes with me pays off and they have a successful concert program. I also enjoy when students come back to visit after graduating and knowing I was part of their journey and success.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I suppose I would set some money aside to help pay bills. I would also establish a fund at my school to help students with basic needs. As teachers we can't perform the Bloom's unless the Maslow has been met.
