Abigail Olson

I’ve wanted to be a teacher since I was 5 years old. When I got older I started to be pulled towards students either special needs.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I have always been excited about teaching… In highschool I noticed some of the special education students not being treated fairly by peers, that’s when I knew I had to be the change. I took them under my wing because why does anyone think they are better than someone else? I perused my dream and here I am teaching K-1 special education students!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Most people say they live for the moments where they see the “light bulb” in their students. I focus on how we got there, all the challenges, successes, and how we learned from all our mistakes!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would invest it in my future education and in my students. They deserve the world, and I will do any and everything I can do to make sure they get that!
