Teaching isn’t a job to me—it’s a passion. The joy of seeing children grow keeps me going every day. I’ve never worked a day in my life.

Learn MoreI became a teacher to make a meaningful difference in children’s lives—not just academically but mentally and socially. Teaching goes beyond academics; it’s about guiding students to grow into compassionate, capable community members. I find joy in seeing students overcome challenges and believe in their potential. Those moments of growth, whether mastering a concept or gaining confidence, remind me why I chose this path. Education transforms lives, and I’m honored to be part of that journey.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceThis was when my 5th-grade students wrote a research paper on the Holocaust. They went through every step of the research process, linking their learning to the book Number the Stars. After completing their papers, they had the opportunity to visit the Holocaust Museum in Seattle. There, they could connect their hard work with real exhibits, deepening their understanding of the historical impact. It was a powerful experience that brought their research to life in a meaningful way.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would first help my family, then invest in my school. As a private school, we lack the resources public schools have for students with 504s, IEPs, and learning obstacles. The money would allow us to employ educators who can provide individualized support for these students. We’d also purchase materials and resources to enhance learning for all students, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to succeed. Additionally, I’d invest in professional development to help staff address diverse learning.
