I became a teacher after a professor made me feel as though I was less than and like I wasn't capable of achieving anything. I knew in that moment that I wanted anyone who walked through my doors to know that with encouragement and positive experiences with learning they could reach for the stars.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The most memorable moments that come to mind are those that happen solely based on the relationships made with students. Recently the students asked me to partake in their school musical with them. The students were so excited and passionate about their acting craft that it renewed every reason in why we do what we do. The students just simply wanted an adult to partake in their passion with them. It reminds you how important this time is in helping to shape and encourage their passions.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000 dollars I would be able to pay off the student loans accrued working my way to becoming a teacher. I would then be able to help supply the classroom with more of the fun things that help students learn and develop an identity in their future pursuits!
