I became an ESL teacher to empower students by helping them develop confidence, language skills, and a sense of belonging. Many of my students face challenges adapting to a new country, and I want to be their advocate and guide. Watching them grow, express themselves, and succeed inspires me every day. Teaching ESL is more than a job—it’s my passion, and I’m committed to making a lasting impact on my student’s lives.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable moments was when a student handed me a heartfelt letter, tears in their eyes, thanking me for teaching them English. They shared how much they loved my class and how sad they were to leave when they moved to another school. Seeing their growth and knowing I made such an impact reminded me why I teach. That emotional moment showed me the deep connections we build as teachers.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won the competition I would use the funds to enhance classroom resources for my ESL students and invest in professional development. I also want to create a family and would use some of the money to start saving for that future. Additionally, I would set aside funds to help take care of my parents, ensuring they have the support and comfort they deserve after all they’ve done for me. It would be a way to honor their sacrifices and create a stable future for my loved ones.
