Tell us why you became a teacher

I originally worked in the school district finance office. During my time there, I seen the need for teachers in our district. I love children, so after about a year, I decided it was something that I wanted to do. I love children, and the passion to shape the future generations is something that inspired me to become a teacher.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience is with a student I had last year. She came in knowing about 25% of her letters and sounds. As we went through the year, she continued to struggle. In February, she finally mastered all letters and sounds. By May, I had her reading simple stories with CVC words. That same student this year came to me with her test grades. She has excelled with her fluency and cold reads this year in 1st grade.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With the $25,000, I would prepare for my own child's future. I would put in a savings account for my own children's college fund. We have started a college fund, but this would make a huge impact on my personal children's future education.
