I love teaching because it gives me a reason. It's often hard for me to well...be a person, and these kids give me a reason.

I became an educator to make a difference. Ever since I was younger I always knew I wanted to make a difference, but didn't know exactly how. This year, I had the honor having a student who made me realize I am living my dream. The student actually has led me to want to get my MSW so I can be trained to support students better. The student who pushed me to finally apply is a kiddo who had their father pass away right before starting his senior year this past fall. I am living my dreams.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI had a kiddo this year who had their father pass away right before starting his senior year this fall. I have not only helped with academics, but also with the grief process. I have don't countless hours of research and building rapport with my kiddo and he is making amazing progress. I am so proud and I know I will remember this student forever. They have told me I am a light in their darkest moments and that right there is my most memorable teaching experience.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would pay off some of my student loans from graduate school and more importantly use it to get my life started. Right now I live in an RV because I don't make enough to have a real home. I also want to go on the Panama trip with my school, but at the moment I can't afford it. If I am being completely honest, I live paycheck to paycheck and am trying to make it out of the cycle of poverty.
