Tell us why you became a teacher

Since I was about 9 years old, I always loved working with younger kids. In high school, I was drawn to babysitting and working with kids. When I had to decide my major while visiting a college, the only career I saw while looking at the list was teaching, as if it were a calling.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I have had many, each dealing with a child who needed a person who would reach beyond the curriculum to help them. The ESL child who desperately wanted to show his mom he could read, the boy I was warned would hurt me, the boy whose family fell apart after family tragedy, the twin who didn’t understand why she behind was behind as her sibling.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Most would go to starting a tutoring business focused on dysgraphia and dyslexia. I already use OG, LMB, & others. Some would go learning dyscalculia strategies. Some would go towards personal academic debt.
