I became a teacher because I wanted to help keep kids from dropping out of school. As a teacher I strive to make sure that every student believes in themselves and believes that higher achievement is a goal they can reach.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceFor me, it isn't one big moment, it's a thousand little ones. Students amaze me and touch my heart every day. They can be funny and we can share a joke. I have also seen how they help a friend in need. I remember when I chaperoned a group of high school students to a Ren Fair, and after a few hours a student came up to me and said, "This is the greatest day of my whole life!" It is moments like that that makes me love being a teacher.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would get some equipment for the Drama Club that I work with every week. I would also get some gift cards to help needy kids get school clothes, and maybe get some comfy chairs and area rugs for my classroom.
