Tell us why you became a teacher

My motivation to become a teacher was influenced by my High School History teacher. All of us, her students were recipients of her teaching methodology. She was not only teacher by the book but looked closely into our character, weaknesses, habits, strengths without being obvious to ensure that she knew the direction she was going to adapt to better help us. I idolized her and knew that I was also going to be a teacher like her.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I was able to change the outlook of a seemingly uninterested student of mine who did not care if she passed or not. Looking into her behavior in and away from school, insights into her family background, her interactions with her schoolmates, I made myself her friend, her confidant, her mentor and all the attention I could give without being obvious until finally towards her Senior year graduation, she no longer was the passive high schooler earning only D’s and C’s and was awarded a medal for
