Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to make a difference beyond the game. Sports taught me discipline, leadership, and resilience—lessons that go beyond the field. I wanted to mentor students, push them to reach their full potential, and prepare them for life. Teaching isn’t just about academics or athletics; it’s about building character, work ethic, and confidence. Seeing students grow and succeed, both in the classroom and in life, is why I do what I do.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable experiences blended coaching and teaching. A student-athlete was on the verge of ineligibility, and I knew losing football could impact his future. I worked with him on study habits, accountability, and discipline—just like on the field. Over time, he turned it around, regained eligibility, and later told me that lesson shaped his life. Moments like that remind me that teaching and coaching go hand in hand—it’s about preparing students for life beyond the game.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would invest in resources to support students and athletes. I’d enhance training programs, provide scholarships for those in need, and upgrade equipment to ensure all athletes have the tools to succeed. Additionally, I’d create leadership and mentorship opportunities to help students grow beyond the classroom and field. Every dollar would go toward building a stronger foundation for their future success.
