I love teaching but i love getting the opportunity to make a difference. To see and get students excited about learning and growing.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because of the impact a quality education gave to me. My parents worked long hours to send me to an excellent school which got me ready for college. I felt like I was lucky to get a quality education and have teachers that cared about me and who I was. It was my teachers that provided me support and become a source of inspiration for me. I learned how to be good human from my parents AND them.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was helping to take my indigenous students from New Mexico to Washington DC. Getting them to take them to amazing museums, the White House and their first baseball game, was such a memorable moment. I loved getting to be such a big part of an important experience for those kids. I still look at that picture of those kids in front of the White House and think about my time near the Navajo Reservation and my work with them.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use it to help my wife and I put a down payment on a house.
