I’ve always wanted to be a teacher. I was that kid who would pull all her dolls and stuffed animals to the floor to have “class”. Any time I was able to teach someone younger than me, I took it and would practice being a teacher. I’ve always envisioned myself in this profession. I even tried to deviate and thought at one time I wanted to be a social worker, but that never materialized. In the end, here I am. In my childhood dream and loving every moment of it.

My most memorable teaching experiences actually happen when we have “life lessons” in my classroom. There’s always those moments when you just have to pause the academics to address some social issues. This is where I would build those relationships with my students and get to know them as individuals. I love hearing their thoughts, and listening to how they perceive the world. When we talk about life, I give them advice on how to navigate through life.

I would use the money for different things. I would put some of it into my student loans. I would also use another portion towards a house. Lastly, I would take my two kids on a cruise because we have not had that experience…yet!
