Tell us why you became a teacher

I started my career teaching the little ones, ages range from 1 to 10 at a preschool. That's where I learned that this was the career for me. I decided to go back to school to get my degree. I'm now in my 3rd year teaching elementary and yes at times it's hard work, but seeing their faces when they achieve things is amazing. Getting hugs and the hey Mrs. Pacheco brightens my day.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

So I would have to say watching the students who have a hard time on a regular bases light up when they see me. I've subbed for schools and would have those students who give their regular teachers a hard time but would be on their best behavior with me and do all of their work. Ones of those students my last year at my last school told me he loved me and will miss me the most. That right there melted my heart. The tough kids are the ones that need that extra attention that extra support.

What would you do with the $25,000?

First I would pay off some bills for sure, fix my roof and then take my family on a trip. Family is everything to me and being able to do something together would be great. I have 3 kids of my own and now I also have my oldest son's girlfriend living with us. So just spending time together would be amazing.
