Tell us why you became a teacher

I’ve always enjoyed and been really good at explaining or showing something to someone- whatever it may be that I have a lot of knowledge in. I became a teacher because I wanted to extend that skill and passion for my subject to a classroom setting for kids that never thought they would become so interested in video and film production. Some students don’t even know they have the skills to excel in media arts until they take my class.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Many students enter my video & film class with little to no knowledge or interest about the film production world; but the most memorable moment(s) so far have been when a student excitingly tells me about an experience when they were watching a film/TV show and noticed the material I’ve taught them while watching- whether it be camera angles or movements, sound design or lighting. The material I taught them resonates deep enough that they start to appreciate the craft.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use $10K for the media arts department at my school and build mini film starter kits for students who want to pursue a career or hobby for content creat/ filmmaking. The rest of the money would go towards my student loans debts.
