I became a teacher to help students be the best version of themselves. I want them to know they have a person who will always be in their corner, rooting for them. It is all about making connections and having students who want to be in class learning. I looked back and saw the people who made an impact in my life, and it was my teachers and coaches. I wanted to do the same.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Each year, I am able to connect with students and develop relationships that help them succeed not just in school, but in life. I also coach basketball, and being able to help my players get a college education is incredibly rewarding. When students email me and ask for a letter of recommendation or put my name down for a job reference, it reminds me that teaching isn't just a moment; it's a lifelong commitment. I'm their teacher for life!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would help pay off student loans and debt for my family. Then, I would like to set up a scholarship program in my name, where each year a student is selected based on their achievements and financial need to receive money to help them go to college.
