I love teaching because there is nothing better than being able to make a positive difference in many students’ lives.

Register NowI became a teacher because I was inspired by the couple of the teachers I had growing up who made learning a positive and fun experience. In those grades, I loved going to school every morning, and I loved learning. On the contrary, I remember many years of not enjoying school and not having a love for learning. At a young age, I realized what a huge difference teachers make when they make learning fun, exciting, and positive, and I decided I would be one of those teachers in my future.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience was when, as my elementary school's intervention teacher who oversees our school-wide i-Ready data, I showed up to our monthly Cub Rally on my new "Treat Trike" with the basket full of prizes. I announced that starting that day, each month I would be calling names of students whose data shows that they have been working hard to come up to choose a prize. Seeing the smiles on over 400 students' faces was a moment I will never forget.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use part of the $25,000 towards classroom supplies. Like most teachers, I end up spending a lot of my own money to purchase items for my classroom and students. I would use some of the money to do something kind for my entire staff to show them appreciation. I have taught at my school for 32 years, and I love and appreciate the teachers and support staff dearly. Lastly, I would treat my husband and our two daughters to a trip to Europe as we all work very hard and cherish family time.
