I love being a teacher because it’s my chance to give back and inspire. Growing up in a low-income environment, I know how limiting it can feel, but I also know the power of encouragement and opportunity. I teach to show my students that their circumstances don’t define their future—that they can dream big and achieve even more. Watching them gain confidence, discover their potential, and realize they can be whoever they want to be is the most rewarding part of what I do.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was with a young boy who often came to school in dirty clothes, burdened by the responsibility of caring for his younger siblings as the oldest child. Seeing his struggle broke my heart, but it also inspired me to act. I put together a backpack filled with essentials—lotion, body wash, and other necessities—hoping to provide him with a sense of care and dignity. His quiet gratitude was deeply moving and reinforced my commitment to supporting students

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I’d invest in starting a business that supports my long-term goal of creating a nonprofit to empower students from low-income backgrounds. I want to provide mentorship, resources, and opportunities to help them build confidence and gain the tools needed to break cycles of poverty. This funding would allow me to begin building programs that teach practical skills and show students they’re capable of becoming successful, productive adults, no matter where they start.
