I became a teacher because as an elementary student I struggled grasping concepts. Teachers were not patient with me and offered little to no strategies in order to help me become successful. I finally had one teacher that showed me various strategies and had patience with me, my entire school career changed. I wanted to be that person for other childrenZ

My most memorable teaching experience was my first year teaching EL students. There was one student who was a newcomer from Mexico. He was eager to learn and just grasped onto my every word, With the use of many visuals, a translator app, and help from a bilingual colleague, I watch this child flourish. In a years time he was able to pass the state assessment. It was amazing.

I would use $25,000 to pay off my student loans and use the remainder to purchase needed materials for my classroom and go to some really great professional development that I have not been able to afford to attend.
