As a MSD special education teacher, seeing my students succeed is the best part of my job. We love then we teach.

I originally was a paraprofessional in the MSD unit at a rural elementary school. Once I started there I knew I wanted to be a teacher. Watching my nonverbal nephew grow and succeed in the classroom and start speaking at the age of 6, I knew special education had my heart. I had to become part of that
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceIn my classroom, we celebrate the small stuff. Whether it's using the potty, counting to 10, or following a routine without being prompted. I have a student that is nonverbal and has some severe behavior issues. She comes in the classroom and instead of running around and screaming, she goes to her desk and follows her morning routine without help. This is why I do what I do. It's the little things that mean the most.
What would you do with the $25,000?Pay student loans and purchase new supplies for my classroom.
