I became a teacher to inspire young minds and create opportunities for students to excel beyond societal expectations. My journey started as a long-term substitute teacher, where I discovered the power of education to spark curiosity and self-confidence. Teaching allows me to combine my love for science with my passion for nurturing identity, intellect, and skills in students.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable experience was teaching students how to collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data. Watching them engage, ask insightful questions, and confidently present findings filled me with joy. The moment when a student said, “I didn’t know science could be this fun and real,” reminded me of why I teach to make learning meaningful and exciting connections.
What would you do with the $25,000?With $25,000, I’d enhance my classroom with STEM resources, such as hands-on kits, technology, and lab materials, to create an engaging learning environment. I’d also fund my own professional development to continue growing as an innovative educator. I’d support students and teachers in led science projects, empowering them to tackle real-world problems with confidence and creativity.
