I love the interactions with my students and the joy I see when they come back to my classroom when they are adults. Teaching is a passion.

My journey of becoming a teacher started at Derby Drive in the small city of Augusta. I was raised by two parents who had a passion for helping others. My dad worked at the VA Hospital and helped people who suffered from alcoholism and drug addictions. My mom was a middle school teacher who made learning authentic and direct. They were the catalyst for my journey to even think about becoming a teacher.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience occurred right after graduation. I wondered where I would teach at after graduating. My mom was currently teaching at a small private school after retiring from thirty years teaching in public school. I applied for a job at the same private school and taught alongside my mother. She taught history and I taught English Language Arts. I know she was proud to see how her love for teaching molded me into becoming a teacher as well.
What would you do with the $25,000?My plan for the $25,000 is to use some of it to buy a car and further my education. I have had my car for the past ten years and it will be reaching the 200,000 mile mark very soon. This car has taken me to many professional learning days and transported children to spelling bees. I would like to go back to get my specialist/doctor degree in leadership instruction. I feel education is my purpose for my life.
