I became a teacher because I wanted to make a meaningful impact on young lives. There’s something truly powerful about shaping the way a child views the world, learns to overcome challenges, and finds confidence in themselves. Beyond the academics, I wanted to teach because I care deeply about building relationships. It’s not just about lessons and grades; it’s about being there for students, cheering them on, and helping them feel seen, heard, and valued. It's a chance to inspire!

My most memorable experience was with a student who struggled with reading. She was sweet, creative, and curious, but she avoided reading out loud or participating in group activities involving books. I could see how frustrated she felt, it broke my heart. I decided to find ways to connect reading to her interests. The more work she put in at a small group time the more her confidence began to grow. Before the year ended she was reading in groups with others. It was truly a proud teacher moment.

$25,000 as a teacher, the possibilities to enhance learning and positively impact students are endless! But also as a mother and wife, strengthening bonds with my family are very important too. This money could help us go on a family vacation to make amazing memories together. It could help invest into my children's educational futures, eliminate other debts, help towards my cancer treatments and medications, and even help in giving to others more in need. It would truly be a dream come true.
