I hope that I can provide the support that I didn’t have growing up. I want to be the teacher that encourages every child to go for dreams.

I love science! Unfortunately, I feel like our young people don’t get enough exposure to science to feel excited about it. This is especially true for girls. I began teaching to encourage young women to look at the many options for careers in STEM.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy students had been working hard on the "Healthy Water" project. They were testing local water sources that fed into the Mississippi Sound. This project was designed to give them real-world applications for what they had been learning. When they found higher nitrate levels at one spot it started an important discussion about how human activity impacts ecosystems. Seeing them making the connections and think through ways to solve the problem made me so happy!
What would you do with the $25,000?I have two daughters in college, one is studying chemical engineering and the other is pre-med. I would use the money to help them complete their goals.
