The relationships I get to build with my students! I’m able to stay in touch with them as they grow and enter into the world as young adults

I became a teacher, specifically middle school, to help encourage young students in their education journey. Middle school students are faced with numerous challenges and it is important for me to not only guide them to be successful individuals in society but a cheerleader as well both in and out of school.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceSome of my most memorable teaching experiences have been working to build a relationship with the students that are more challenging. I had a student, who I never taught, that I was able to take under my wing and support through the second semester. Regardless of the amount of classes that student passed, they were able to know that they could come to me for support and truly cherished the connection. It was inspiration to continue to push in the next year.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I were to win the $25,000, I would use a portion of that money to help me pursue my master’s degree in curriculum development. The remaining portion would be used to pour back into my community in efforts to create learning opportunities for students who are underrepresented. I truly believe despite where a child lives, family social economic status, or school funding, they should be given the same educational opportunities as others who have more resources.
