Tell us why you became a teacher

My mom, an educator of 24 years, is not only the reason why I wanted to teach, but also a perfect example of an educator that leads by example. Growing up and having the privilege of watching her teach has helped shape me into the teacher I am today. When I was afforded the opportunity to teach high school, I knew I would be comfortable and confident in the position because of her!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Producing a dance show with my students has not only been the most memorable teaching experience, but also the most fun! Allowing them creative freedom, allowed me to draw them into the excitement of creating a dance show. At the end of the show, my students were grateful for the entire production and they were so excited to do it again.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Being that this is the first full year of my dance program, I would first purchase dance costumes in multiple sizes. I would also purchase dance equipment like ballet barres, stretch bands, etc. Lastly, I would purchase lights for my classroom so that we could hold small showcases!
