Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I love working with middle and high school students, helping them grow in their education and confidence. Math and science shape our world, and I want to inspire students to see their beauty and power. My goal is to make learning exciting and meaningful, encouraging curiosity, problem-solving, and innovation. I strive to empower students with the skills and confidence to embrace challenges and achieve great things.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

As a teacher, I help students learn through their interests and abilities. I once had a hyperactive student, seen as a "troublemaker," passionately explain his thoughts on the Fermi paradox in five minutes for a project. Moments like these inspire me—when students with learning differences connect with their passions and feel confident sharing them. Seeing their curiosity and growth reminds me why I love teaching.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would invest them in art, science, and math supplies for my school since I teach all of these subjects. I would also use them to help me grow as a teacher through trainings and online resources. I may also use some of the money toward self-care needs since healthy teachers make effective teachers!
