Tell us why you became a teacher

I chose education because I wanted to emerge as a positive force in the lives of kids. I have always longed to bring hope, joy, encouragement, and knowledge to others; teaching allows me to model each of these aspects (and then some!) in my classroom, and I have cherished every minute and embraced every student in doing so!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Years ago, I had a young man who was being ruthlessly bullied by classmates. After ample thought and prayer, I knew I had to help him. Hence, I carefully interceded, and on several occasions, I was able to help alleviate his torment in my classroom. That young man messaged me recently to express his appreciation for my aid. He communicated to me that my intercessions had "prevented" him from attempting suicide back then. Blindsided by his confession, I was also grateful that he is good now!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would utilize a portion of the money on my students by purchasing necessary materials for my classroom in my Title 1 school. I would apply another bit toward my two boys' college fund. I would utilize a part of the money to tithe at my church, and I might allocate a sum to St. Jude, where I can impact kids globally. Lastly, I would treat my magnanimous best friend to a girls' weekend of live music! Regardless, I will spend the money wisely and with great love.
