Register NowI became a teacher because I have four younger siblings, and I loved helping them grow when they were kids! When I was 16, two of my siblings were adopted from Guatemala. I spent my summers babysitting them and watching them grow up, which was such a memorable experience. I also have two siblings on my dad's side. My little brother is autistic, and his presence has given me a deeper understanding of different learning styles and the unique needs of all learners.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI've had many unforgettable experiences in my 11 years as an educator. One standout moment was teaching 41 first-grade students virtually during COVID and creating an ELA website to help families with at-home learning. I had to find ways to differentiate for each student, and it was so rewarding to see their excitement for online learning and to get a glimpse into their homes and lives. I truly loved connecting with their families through virtual learning.
What would you do with the $25,000?As you're aware, educators aren't paid what they're worth, and home prices have risen significantly in recent years. If I were to win $25,000, I would put it toward buying my forever home—something I've always dreamed of having!
