Growing up, I had many teachers who molded and shaped me into the person I am today. When it came time to choose a career, I knew I wanted to give back to my community and work in a field that molds and shapes the minds of our youth academically as well as socially. We live in a chaotic world, therefore providing a safe and positive environment is of the utmost importance to me as a teacher.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy favorite memory starts when a former student of mine expressed little interest in furthering his post-high school education to me. He was a bright and very motivated student so I knew having a career that challenged him as an adult was necessary. We talked for a long time then years later he called and told me he had just earned his degree in Biology. He is now working for a well-known company creating spices for this product. We meet regularly and he shares his new creations with me.
What would you do with the $25,000?I am in the last leg of my 37 year teaching career. I would use the money in retirement to help with bills, as well as take a few extra journeys around the world to celebrate my retirement.
