Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because of my kindergarten teacher who made learning fun. I told her when I grow up I wanted to be a teacher just like her and that’s exactly what I did. I wanted to make learning fun while forming life- long learning bonds with my students and their families. I have been teaching for 33 years and I continue to love what I do. My goal is to continue forming forever bond with my students and their families.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience happened when a former student shared his story on how I touched his life when he was a student. He shared with me the lessons that I taught him helped him to navigate his way through the National Football League ( NFL) when he was playing football. That moment was an impactful and tear jerker moment for me.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I had the opportunity to win the $25,000 I would pay for my daughter’s college tuition. I have 5 children and 4 out of 5 are educators or studying to be educators. This would help us out a lot. I also would help one particular student in my class who tells me his mom doesn’t have money. He gets upset and cries for his mom. This just breaks my heart.
