Stacie Trent

I love sharing knowledge with my students. It’s so awesome to see that moment when they get it and the pride they feel, it’s everything!

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to help students discover their strengths and to learn how to overcome adversity. My own schooling taught me that I could be more than what I thought possible. As a child with a learning disability, I did not think that I could do great things in my life, but I had a few teachers who believed in me. I went into the field to educate my students, but I also wanted to help my students recognize their worth.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience would have to be when my seventh graders informed me that I was SO FUNNY and that they wanted to write persuasive letters to Netflix, or someplace like that, in order to convince them to give me my own television show. They also feel that when I retire, I need to be a comedian. I did tell them that would work only if my target audience was a bunch of middle school students! But hey, I made them want to write an essay! Teaching middle school is AWESOME! 😂🤣

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would love to purchase a class set of biographies for my students (I teach in a Title 1 school), update my personal classroom library, put money away for my children’s education, and possibly spend a few dollars on me.
