I have worked with children since I started babysitting at age 12. Helping students find success is what drives me to keep going!

During my second year at junior college, I was studying psychology, specifically child psychology. My local childcare center called me to see if I’d be interested in working part time. I had taught swimming lessons locally for years. So, this seemed like the next step. Shortly after starting the new job, I added education as a 2nd major! Helping children is what I’d done for years through babysitting, coaching swim team, and teaching swim lessons. Teaching for my career made perfect sense!
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI had an 8th grade student who was struggling: school, home, choices. I kept her after class, and I had a heart to heart with her. By 8th grade, it’s time for students to take accountability! Life isn’t always fair. The cards we are dealt aren’t always great. But, it’s up to us to make sure we are in control of our future! This student made small changes to finish 8th grade. She went on to finish hs. After hs, she became a nurse! She messaged me about the impact that conversation had on her!
What would you do with the $25,000?I have a senior daughter headed to college in the fall. Then, I have two more girls headed to college in 2027 and 2029. I would love to help with their college educations! We also love to travel as a family. So, I’m sure we’d have to visit some place we have never been!
