I decided to become a teacher in college. I was a pre-med student and a single mother of 3 children. My love of children and my love of science brought me to the classroom. I used to as a little girl have the neighborhood kids come and sit with me and practice spelling and math. I truly believe the path to be there for our kids was always in my stars.

After 21 years of teaching there are many memorable moments. I think that I have lots of patience and especially with the kids that other teachers call the can’t or won’t kids become my specialty. I talk pride to get to know all my students personally. Knowing their names by the 3 day. Every student has their own personal challenges and helping them succeed not only in the classroom but in their lives truly is my legacy. The call me momma OC. I still have connections with my old students.

Pay off my debt to buy my own house. Redo my lab room at work. Make sure I always have that pencil or notebook for the kids who need it. I always run out of pencils by 2nd semester. I have always taught at a title one school and always spend my own money for school and lab supplies as the districts do not provide enough for my kids.
