Stacey Kerere

I love teaching because no two days, two classes or two students are alike. Each day brings new opportunities and new challenges.

Tell us why you became a teacher

Honestly, I became a teacher because my "dream job" turned out to be a bust. Not sure what to do next, I started volunteering in the Education Department at my local aquarium. I loved watching the students get excited over something I presented. It was suggested to me by the director that I consider a career in education.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Due to my husband's job, we've moved around quite a bit. Over 25 years in education, I have taught in 6 different states, 8 different schools. My most memorable teaching experience was watching students I taught as freshman in HS walk across the stage 4 years later at graduation. Finally seeing the end goal and knowing I was a part of it is immeasurable.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Put it towards my retirement!
