Sloan Boatman

I love teaching because I am able to spot children with reading difficulties and dyslexia because I had the same ones.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference in children and their views on their education. I wanted them to love school and learning even if it was hard. I wanted to be that helping hand when they needed it.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I would have to say my most memorable experience in teaching is when a student was having such a hard time reading in the 5th grade and after spending his break time and lunch time with I figured out he had dyslexia, I went and told the counselor and we started an iep plan for him.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would pay off my car, pay on my daughter’s tuition and my tuition. Then if I had any money left over I would take my children and mum on a much needed vacation.
