Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to do my part to ensure that we have the collective knowledge to make a sustainable world for humans and all living things to thrive.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The year that we had shortened classes because of COVID restrictions we did a lot of investigations outdoors. In one memorable activity, we made marshmallow rocket launchers to as part of our lessons on air pressure. I remember that it was thrilling to the students and quite a lot of fun.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would take my family to a national park like Yosemite or Volcano National Park. Last year I was able to take one daughter to Texas to see the eclipse but my younger daughter was in college and couldn't make the trip. I would love to share a similar experience with all of us. Excursions (near and far) are invigorating to me personally and enliven my teaching as well.
