Tell us why you became a teacher

When I was in elementary and middle school, I had difficulties learning. I had 2 teachers that took me under their wings and showed me a world of learning that I did not know existed. At that time I said, “I want to do this for other kids and be a teacher!” RIP Mrs. Blake and thank you Mr. Smith!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was having a former student come visit me and say “thank you” for believing in me and pushing me to be the best version of myself. There is nothing better than knowing that after 25 years in education, you’ve touching a child (or children) and they come visit you to give you that humble “thank you.”

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the money to help pay for my children’s college education. I paid for my own college education and vowed to be able to pay for my own children because my parents could not do that for me.
