I became a teacher because of the profound influence of my grandmother, who was also a teacher. Growing up, I witnessed how deeply she impacted her students' lives—helping them with everything from getting glasses to learning to read and even cultivating an appreciation for nature. Her legacy of compassion and dedication left a lasting impression on me. Even as a child, I loved the idea of nurturing learning and making a difference, just like my grandmother did.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

As all educators know, every day is a new adventure, so narrowing to one most memorable experience is impossible. However, I keep what I call a "Warm Fuzzy File" in which I compile notes, letters, emails, and drawings from students and parents written to tell me I made a difference. On days when I feel I missed the mark with the students, I visit the file to remind myself that tomorrow's a new day. This file has become both memories of fulfillment and a reminder that teaching matters.

What would you do with the $25,000?

That is a magical question to consider! I would need to brainstorm and contemplate: -put toward the mortgage? 💸 -new roof on the house?🏡 -build my husband a much needed shed? -take the family on a memorable vacation?✈️ -get rid of some wrinkles? 👵 -classroom makeover?👩‍🏫 -invest it?🏦 -new vehicle?🚗 -donate a portion to church or community outreach?⛪ Ahhhhh! I can't stop. There are so many ways that $25,000 could enhance my family's economic situation.
