Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to make a lasting impact on students' lives, guiding them toward success and confidence. For 27 years, I’ve found joy in inspiring young minds, fostering growth, and helping students overcome challenges. Teaching allows me to nurture potential, build relationships, and create a positive learning environment. It’s more than a job—it’s my calling, my passion, and my way of shaping the future one student at a time.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable moments in teaching was during COVID when I got sick. My former students found out and showed up with groceries at my doorstep. One even drove all the way from Atlanta to bring food. Their kindness and support reminded me of the deep connections we build as teachers. Seeing how much they cared reinforced why I love this profession—teaching isn’t just about lessons; it’s about relationships that last a lifetime.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would first buy a proper hospital bed for my bed-bound husband to improve his comfort and care. Losing my job due to funding cuts has been tough, so I would use some of the money to pay off debt and ease financial stress. This support would give me the stability to focus on my husband’s needs and plan for the future. It would be a huge relief during this challenging time, helping me regain some peace of mind.
