I teach social studies to inspire future generations, and to help them understand why it is important to understand what came before them.

My journey into teaching was a complete accident. I was tutoring other adults in a chemistry class for my nursing degree and discovered I had a passion for teaching. I always wanted to work with the public and this brought it to reality. From there I chose history because it’s something I’ve always been passionate about. We need to always understand our past to prevent it from repeating itself generations from now.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience was actually recently. A student who was seemingly disengaged from most of his studies. After a conversation with the student, his family, and the counselor, he is now actively working hard at the current learning and we are spending his lunch time reteaching old units. He’s renewed, reinvigorated, and has a passion for our class that is inspiring to me and his peers. Constant frowns are now celebrations of his achievements. I am unbelievably proud of him.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would either complete a Masters degree program for myself, or invest it into a college fund for my stepdaughter.
