Tell us why you became a teacher

In high school, I discovered a passion for special education while I was enrolled in Teacher Cadet. I loved seeing their confidence grow and realized I wanted to create an inclusive environment where all students feel valued and supported. Teaching allows me to empower students, celebrate their progress, and making a difference in their lives.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was running a student-led coffee shop for teachers to work on employability skills. I had parents come to visit and see the classroom, so I stepped out to discuss the purpose of the class. One of the parents was impressed when a student came out with a frappe and was heading to deliver it. It was a proud moment for me to see my students gaining practical skills but thriving in a leadership role. It reinforced the impact of hands on learning.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I’d use part of the money to create hands-on learning opportunities to continue providing practical skills through real-world experiences like the coffee shop. I’d ensure my classroom is fully equipped with resources necessary for inclusive and engaging lessons.
