Tell us why you became a teacher

As a single mother, I needed a career that would support both my son and me while keeping us on the same schedule. Teaching seemed practical at first, but the moment I stepped into the classroom, I fell in love. Year after year, each student became a part of my heart, and teaching became woven into my soul. To many, I was more than just a teacher—I was a mentor, a confidante, a guiding force. They trusted me, and knowing I shaped their days made me feel deeply responsible for their growth.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

It’s hard to choose, but my most memorable teaching experience was the year I taught while carrying twins. It was a difficult pregnancy, yet my students went out of their way to support me without being asked. Their kindness wasn’t just thoughtful—it was a reflection of the impact I had on them. In their small, selfless acts, I saw how much they valued me, not just as their teacher but as someone who truly mattered to them. That year, I was honored as Teacher of the Year.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I founded Mobile Education Center for All, a nonprofit providing free tutoring to students unable to attend school. With $25K, I can expand our reach—funding educational materials, mobile learning resources, and technology to support students where they are. The winnings would help us bridge learning gaps, ensuring every child, regardless of circumstance, has access to quality education and fuel our mission to bring learning directly to those who need it most.
