Tell us why you became a teacher

I was volunteering with my son’s class helping with reading groups during my lunch hour from work and it was the most rewarding time seeing children excited and mesmerised by the stories always eager to read more. I knew that each day would be a blessing. There is no other job where you can create true meaningful change and support future scientists, explorers, collaborators, problem solvers, and global leaders.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My first day back to school after I tragically lost my only child. The children had sent cards and were filled with love and laughter when I entered the classroom. The light and hope they gave me makes each day meaningful. I am grateful to be part of their learning.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Start a not for profit to honor my son’s memory and provide college scholarships for students who may not be able to afford college especially for those who engage in community service and helping keep the environment healthy for all living things.
