Tell us why you became a teacher

I didn’t always have the best childhood. I had a 2nd/3rd grade teacher that looked after me and made feel special. Even at a young age she let me know that I could choose a different path and if I worked hard, nothing could hold me back. Today I am the teacher who can empathize with the students who have some of the same struggles that I had growing up. I spend each day making sure every student in my class feels loved and supported by me. I teach them to DREAM BIG!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

To pick one is impossible. I live in a small town in Ohio. Character is just as important to me as academics. Everyday that I see my classroom working as a family, helping one another is a win for me! 1st graders are very inquisitive and keep you on your toes. There’s never a dull moment or shortage of laughter in my room.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would definitely catch up on some bills and student loans to remove some stress. I would also like to take a small family vacation, my children are grown and everyone is always seems so busy. I was just blessed with my 1st grandchild, Florence! I would love to spend some quality time with her. Lastly, we’re going to have the biggest ice cream sundae party in 1st grade!!
