I became a teacher to show how “full of smiles” learning can truly be! I’ve always wanted this for our future generations. Intelligence is VERY important to me, as is the concept of being able to make an impact on the world by inspiring and also contributing to breaking free of societal norms, by embracing individuality & cultural change. This for me, is what teaching embraces in its every origin & form and this is where my personality comes in! I was made for teaching.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI was voted top finalist in teacher of the year for Oklahoma & it blew my mind just being nominated, let alone being able to make it so far. It showed me that all of this extra time, late hours, early mornings, at home assessing, focused learning groups, individual growth strategies and all the love in between was shining bright even when there were days I felt like I wasn’t doing enough for these kids. It gave me hope that hard work does pay off and people notice when they see other’s hearts.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would honestly pay off my debt. Then I could live in a world where when I spent so much money on my classroom I wouldn’t have to worry about the burden it pays on my family and my son. I want to financially be secure so I can be even more mentally focused on my students and their future. Each day that is poured into the kids, that is exactly what the world gets back into it. It would truly help the stress/burden of finances be dissipated and one day focus on owning my own home!
