For 20 years, I taught without knowing my “why.” Teaching, for me, is where science, schooling, spirituality, socialization, and silliness ignite curiosity and creativity. Healing from past trauma transformed me into a compassionate educator, driven to help students become kind, capable humans. Teaching is a powerful vocation, shaping lasting positivity. My journey has deepened my purpose, making me a better guide to inspire and empower my students every day.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

After 18 years of being triggered daily, I hit burnout and said, "Enough." I loved teaching but couldn’t continue like that. Determined to change, I spent years researching and reflecting, trying to understand why I felt overwhelmed while others seemed fine. Everything shifted when I discovered "story work" and "narrative-focused trauma care." By understanding my own story and regulating my emotions, I found a renewed passion for teaching and the ability to thrive in the classroom.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won $25,000, I’d invest in research materials to develop a curriculum that helps educators explore their personal stories and access resources to transform triggers into growth. Additionally, I’d start a podcast to share tools and inspiration, helping teachers refresh and renew themselves. My goal is to support educators in becoming their best selves, which benefits students and fosters stronger, healthier learning environments.
